Helllllloooooooo?

Hello Hello… Thanks to anyone who has stuck around these desolate parts 🙂

I kind of want to say that I wish I had a better excuse to give y’all about why I haven’t been blogging, but that isn’t true. Life has just been incredibly insane and I’ve been rolling with it. There has been lots of not so fun thing (family in the hospital), lots of long nights between 2 jobs + trying to see family once in awhile + somewhat maintain a house +plan a wedding + the billion other day to day things.. but there has also been lots of fun things. I took a quick trip to San Diego with an old friend, nights out on the town, and FINALLY getting the house the way I want it decorating wise.

This is kind of a lame post to come back with, but T is in class late tonight and I plan I recapping a bunch of wedding stuff, San Diego and how Skinny Meg’s Diet Bet went… oh I didn’t tell you guys about that either?? oops! haha

I hope everyone’s been well, I did absolutely nothing this weekend other than catch up on everyone’s blog.. everyone has been busy! Half marathons galore- y’all rock!!!

Weigh In Wedneday- It’s Been Awhile, and It Ain’t Pretty

What the freak is up with my format?!?! ahhh!!
Weigh In Wedneday

Well, there is no beating around the bush on this one.

I think the title pretty much sums it up.

photo-381

I attribute it to vacation eating & drinking.

As much as I hate seeing this number I am kind of glad.

I have some in-my-face proof I can’t eat whatever I want and stay the same weight.

I do think some of this is water weight though, because I didn’t go THAT far over my calories.

So hopefully I will have a much better number next Wednesday!

________

Moving on.. anyone ever have a day where nothing seems to go right?

(Stupid question, who hasn’t??)

That’s today for me. Blah.

As I mentioned we celebrated T’s birthday in Colorado. It was fun, but obviously his family wasn’t there so it wasn’t a complete celebration.

I talked to the server (who is also a friend) at the grill where we like to hang out and asked her if she would help me put something together for him. She agreed, and was helping me spread the word to all the people we know who frequent the grill. I was also going to bring by a cake earlier in the day & decorate to have that as part of the surprise.

On Saturday we are going to go look at wedding venues and I’m gonna be dragging Trent around the valley for most of the day. I was planning on asking him if we could stop by the grill for a quick drink on the way home- but making sure he knew I didn’t want to stay long. The plan was stop in and have everyone there to surprise him. They also have a band (not a usual thing) that night, so I thought that would be extra fun as well.

I texted T’s mom and dad to make sure that they were going to be in town and to invite them. His Dad responded right away and loved the idea. His mom responded and said talk to his sister because she’s trying to plan something for herself, T, and T’s mom for that day. (They all have August birthdays).

I texted SIL and of course she doesn’t like the idea. So instead she says how about we do dinner at your house or T’s mom’s house on Friday?

Um..

1- T and I will both be lucky to be off by 8.

2- What the heck?! Invite yourself over much??

As of right now nothing is resolved and I am so frustrated. I know this is nothing in the scheme of things but it’s just one more annoyance today.

It also doesn’t help that I’m already annoyed at SIL.. The short of the story is she recently bought a house.. I sell real estate, but she chose to go with another Realtor. Okay.. She also decided the appropriate time to tell me that they were going with someone else was on my birthday. (Surrounded by guests- at the party..) Her explanation was that she wanted to go with her friend who is part time and affiliated with Dave Ramsey.

Okay.. (I went online and anyone can be an ELP with him by the way..) But what really bothered me the most about the whole situation is she told her parents that she didn’t go with me because she had a good friend who was a Realtor as well, SO SHE DECIDED TO HIRE A 3RD PARTY!!!

Um. Lier!!!

I know I just need to get over it, but dang.

So,so, SO irritating.

I ended up just telling T the plan and now he’s annoyed too.

So now I just feel bad for bothering him with it.. uhg.

Thank goodness today marks the halfway point to the week.

Someone else PLEASE tell me some in law stories to make me feel better!!

Please & thank you 🙂

Greetings from Colorado

Helllloooo…. I feel like it’s been years since I last blogged. Oopsie.

I previously mentioned work was insane.. well if anything it just got crazier. BUT that’s all a distant memory for now, because I am in my favorite place EVER! We got into Crested Butte a couple days ago, and it has been nothing but wonderful. Phoenix has been humid (thank you monsoons) and hovering around 110. In Crested Butte we have been enjoying a nice crisp 75 here. I am just LOVING it!

Unfortunately I don’t have much to say other than I don’t think I’ve ever appreciated a vacation this much.

Fortunately I do have lots of pictures to share!

Lori watching a squirrel.. which later tried to photo bomb the pic. haha!________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Anyway- from the beginning shall we?

Relaxing at the Doubletree

Side note- Double Tree Durango.. I love you!! You are always so friendly with you freshly baked cookies (even when we roll into town at 10 pm)! This year you even surprised me with a bag of cookies for my baby. Perfection.

You have the most amazing beds I have ever slept in (and I’m a germaphobe..) and the deepest bathtubs to relax in after 10 hours of driving. Oh, and the delicious wine you have on your room service menu is a bonus too.

Lastly, you have work out facilities and a great business center to deal with those PIA client’s who won’t respect the 1.5 weeks a year that I completely take off to catch up with family.

So far there has been lots of this...

Relaxing!

1.) Reading! Real books! I realized it’s been almost 2 years since I’ve read a real (paper) book for pleasure. For shame! Good thing I brought six with me..

2.) Catching up on blogs and instagram with coffee.

3.) Doing my nails. Look how trendy I am.. haha

I even ran into one of these:

A real live CB traffic Jam.. SIX cars, count them! haha. The culprit was a tractor of course..

There was also one of these today:

And a bit of exploring in town:

I will leave you with a picture of my view right this very moment

Hope everyone had a great Wednesday!!

Finally in the Mindspace

and it feels wonderful!

It seems like every year (wow that’s depressing to say..) around this time I get on track and then vacation throws me off.

This year WILL be different though!

For one thing T is on board, for another my mom has had gastric bypass. Needless to say her eating habits are drastically different. This just leaves me to battle with my Dad who wants Pizza everyday for lunch. I don’t blame him, the pizza at the local place in CB is awesome.. just not healthy everyday! haha

Colorado is wonderful in the fact that there are a million and one things to do outside. One of me and T’s favorite thing’s to do it walk from Mt. CB down into town. It’s approximately 3 miles and the views are amazing!

As far as this week goes- so far so good.

I went to the gym yesterday and ran 6 miles, and plan to go again tomorrow morning before work. I have kept the calories in check and have definitely upped the water and cut back on the processed crap.

My biggest victory so far was probably last night-  Joy came over and wanted to roast s’mores since she had to leave the other weekend before we got to it. I tried to get the fire started, but it was a no go.

She was determined though and wanted to make them inside.. so I helped her but didn’t partake. The chocolate smelled good, but about three minutes after she had one she commented on how she wished she didn’t because all the sugar made her sick.

So yay for skipping the calories and the stomach ache 🙂

Hope everyone had a great Tuesday!

Lotto Dreaming (Link Up)

Ok, so I have been a little MIA this week.. I have mentioned before that I love one of my jobs and can’t stand the other. Well, I definitely reached a breaking point this week at work (more on that later, maybe).

I truly have a million and one things to do, but I can’t not do this link up so here goes 🙂

button

I’m sure you guys will never believe it, but I have fantasized thought about this very topic a time or two before. I’m definitely gonna have to win big to fulfill all this, but we are dreaming right? My luck would be I’d use all my lotto winning mojo on a $200 win though- ha!!

*First of all I would pay off our house.

* Next I would pay off T’s and my parent’s homes.

* I would help T’s parent’s buy the bar/grill they have always wanted.

* I would hire someone super qualified to clean up my Dad’s business. That way he could finally just “be the buyer” like he wants.

* I would buy T this car:

jaguar628

* And then this one for his birthday, just because..

DSCN2379

*I would buy myself this beauty..

It would be slate blue though, duh

* I would donate to charities- Animals, women’s causes, cancer research, Veterans

*I would plan our dream wedding! Complete with party buses to get everyone there since it’s a bit of a trek.

PicMonkey Collage

*I would set up a college/trust fund for two hypothetical kids

*I would invest a big chunk of the winnings

*I would buy my BFF a home here, so she would have no excuse not to visit

*I would give some to friends and family.. so be nice to me people 😉

*I would buy a “summer home” in Crested Butte, CO.

bd491d0c-f874-4a33-bb17-3744fb9f6884.1.10

*I would buy my parents a huge vacation package- to force them to travel!

*T and I would travel- Spain, Greece, Ireland, Islands.. all over

PicMonkey Collage1

Can you tell I’m craving some beach time today?

*I would charter a personal jet every Christmas so T’s family could come here or we could go there. In style of course.

*I would design and build a dream “forever” home. I want to stay in the area, but we are going to have to build to accommodate what I want.. Land, horse barn (and someone to take care of the horses..), shop, big garage, AMAZING yard- complete with lazy river, swim up pool and BBQ area. Don’t forget plenty of bedrooms, spa bathrooms gym, great kitchen, playroom, craft room… naw I won’t get carried away.

*I’m obviously going to need someone to help me clean/care for all of this. A fitness coach/trainer would be great too..

*I would hire my hair stylist to stop by my house every morning

*I think a boob job and lazer hair removal would be in order, and I’ve always wondered about spray tanning..

*I would definitely round out each afternoon with some shopping too.

Thanks for the fun link up Holly

I hope everyone has a great weekend!!!!

The Best Laid Plans….

Happy Memorial Day everyone!!

images

Thank you to everyone and their families who have served to protect this amazing country of ours.

This was one heck of a weekend to say the least. My parents, the fiance, and I were all supposed to go to our cabin up north. Sadly thanks to one of my other family members deciding last minute that they were going to go out of town we didn’t get to go. (Grandpa hates the cabin and was going to stay with said family member).  Good thing it’s almost summer time though, I can’t wait to start spending time up there!

The fiance knew I was really looking forward to escaping work and surprised me with a staycation since we couldn’t leave town!! This isn’t his typical style and I was so surprised and excited!!

We checked into the hotel Friday night, and then went out and grabbed some dinner. By the time we got back to the room it was pretty late so we hung out and then went to bed.

Saturday morning we were up by 7:30ish so we headed down to the big pool and hung out there. I’m a bad blogger and didn’t take pics, but their main pool is pretty awesome. Picture a huge pool- complete with grotto, water features, beach and slide. Around noon we decided to head to the “adult” pool and get some drinks

ResizedImage951369712005112

This should have been my first clue.. 2 drinks and I already felt the need to be chugging water

So we had 2 drinks each and then decided that we wanted to go grab lunch and hit up the Memorial day sales so that I could get myself a new laptop for work.

We went and ran the errands and then T indulged me and went to a new store I was super excited to go check out (Styles for less- thanks Nicole)!

While we were out we decided to catch a movie  (Epic, pretty cute!) and then we headed back to the hotel to go explore some of the other pools. There was this one that I had been to years before that I wanted to show T, but I couldn’t recall exactly where it was. The resort we were at is this huge, sprawling, massive place on the side of a mountain. Let’s just say I have a terrible memory and sense of direction and we definitely got our daily exercise in by the time we found the pool! haha

Again- I’m a bad blogger- sorry no pictures! But the pool is on top of the mountain and over looks the entire Moon Valley area- it’s so pretty up there!

After the pool we went back to the room, hung out, and decided we wanted to order room service. I ordered the chicken sandwich with salad and T ordered the pastrami and fries. Our original plan was to split them, but I ate the salad and half my sandwich and only had a bite or two of the pastrami.  it was pretty late so we went to bed shortly after.

Sunday– OMG. I woke up feeling so sick that I forced myself back to sleep. Then I woke up again a little bit later and heard T in the bathroom.. force self back to sleep.. then 30 or so minutes later I roll over and at the same time T and I both were like “nooo this isn’t happening!!!”

We spent all of Sunday in the room miserable and thanks to a faulty thermometer ended up taking T to urgent care. The doctor at urgent care advised us to go to the ER, because he was worried about pain T was having in the lower left side of his abdomen.

Luckily the ER doctor said that he just thought it was the stomach flu that was going around. Buuut we did get to hang out in the ER until 3 AM, fun fun! haha!

Today was definitely a low key day! How was everyone else’s Memorial day weekend? Did you do anything exciting?

Back on track?

Sooo when I started this blog I started by writing an ‘about me’ page. It was harder than I thought it would be.  A lot harder. As you’ve probably figured this blog is primarily about getting healthy, and the truth hurts I guess. Ha! The fact that I try not to talk about myself definitely didn’t make things any easier either.

But with that being said- writing the ‘about me’ was beneficial because it really FORCED me to think about actual goals. Instead of the typical  “I want to get healthy and lose weight” I actually really thought about why I wanted to and how I was going to do it. Saying I want to be healthy is all well and good, but I need to get my arse in gear and actually STICK WITH IT! In the past I’ve had a lot of false starts. It’s easy to stick with something in the beginning.. but then I become flaky about it. Uhg. I can’t stand flakiness in others (and I even dislike the word- eww) so why in the world would I accept it from MYSELF!?

Life has changed a bit since I wrote my ‘about me’ page. I am still balancing a lot (and pretend planning a wedding, I should really start working on that….), but the 4 vacations I mentioned have become 3 vacations. I didn’t go into a lot of detail about them, but one of them was a girls trip to the Bahamas!

photo-2 (2)1

(Focus on the clear, pretty water- not the awkward stance or roots..)

Well..that trip was 2 weeks ago, and I didn’t lose the weight I wanted to. (SEE: False Starts). I was super insecure about the whole thing. I LOVE the islands, needed a vacation, and wanted to push myself outside my normal boundaries. BUT all the women I was going with are tiny, petite little things and I didn’t really know any of them all that well. Unfortunately, everyone but the person that planned the trip and I cancelled.. We still had fun, and had lots of relaxing time. But the major bonus was the big “breakthrough” I had.

The woman I went with is probably 5′ 3″ (7 inches shorter than me) and weights 110lbs on a “bad” day.  (Not ready to publicly discuss my weight- HA!) We were together 24/7 for the entire week and it was really interesting to see how she ate. She did eat, and not particularly well (ie junk, probably because we were on vacation), but she ate what I thought were tiny portions. I decided that I was going to eat the same way she did, and I wrote down every bite that went into my mouth. What I found was scary.. I was really eating 1700-1800 calories and I felt like I was hardly eating at all. WOAH- telling much?

photo (2)

To be in full disclosure there was a fair amount of rum involved most days- hello empty calories.

Also everything on that dang island is super expensive ($15 for a crappy burger, forget salads as even an option) so we went to the grocery store there on our second day and pretty much just ate in the room. We really bought a lot of processed garbage, but when we were buying it she was looking at it’s vitamin and mineral content. Me? I’m looking at calories- and I try to avoid overly processed stuff. It was interesting to me to see our different views, and how it was working for us. I still feel that as far as “health” goes whole foods are the way to go.. but it seems unfair she eats teddy grahams and ramen and gets to be skinny. Life’s unfair, I know. lol. I did feel pretty good when she was having trouble walking through the water and on the sand and I wasn’t having any trouble. (That sounds terrible, but I don’t mean it like that!)

Honestly I was/am mad at myself for not sticking with it and being able to feel at least moderately comfortable in a swim suit on vacation. Even though I’m upset with myself I know life’s a journey, and I feel like I’ve got the kick I needed to stick with it. Now I just need to keep up the will power– 3 other good things did come out of the trip as well.

1)While I was gone I got in the habit of drinking a ton of water, so I am trying to keep up with it.

2.) I managed to lose approx 2.5 lbs while on vacation, and that was weighing in right when I got home at the end of the day.

3.) An acquaintance became a friend 🙂

It’s dawned on me that the 1.5 year engagement is down to 14 months and haven’t made (hardly) ANY progress at all.

So with that being said I am off to take Lori on a walk 🙂

Can you tell who runs the animal kingdom here? Poor Lori..
