Weigh in Wednesday

Well.. at least I am averaging ONE post per week? Ha!

Work + wedding planning + family stuff is officially on a new level of intense. Just when I think work can’t get any busier- it does! I think that I need to quit talking about it already.

Anyway.. diving right in to some link ups:

I don’t have a picture, but my weight this morning was

NOT the number that I was looking for, but I wasn’t all the surprised. Saturday was an all out party for a friend’s 30th birthday and there was a lot of drinking involved. I’m angry with myself for losing sight of my goals, but it was also good because it was a nice little slap in the face. Nothing like a huge gain to make you realize that “Hey! That wasn’t very healthy!”
Other than Saturday night I have been eating pretty well, so I think a lot of it is water weight thankfully.. I can’t wait to work my butt of this week so that I can see a better number NEXT week!
Soo.. on to the “official” goals/ goal recap:
Fitnasty for Life
1.) Track EVERY bite, EVERY day. No more justifications for eating crappy food either.
2.) Get to the gym a minimum of three days this week.
3.) Drink 100oz of water per day, EVERYDAY!
Fail! I’m keeping these until I get better at them (sorry for the repetitive posts..). I need to seriously work on the justifying (hello 30th birthday) and the gym time.
As far as my plan of action of how to improve?
I bought 10 classes to a women’s “boxing” gym- and once I start going they all have to be used within 30 days. This means that I will need to be there a minimum of 2x per week. I bought the deal for the same friend who just turned 30, so I have some built in accountability there. The other huge plus is the fact that it is literally on my way home and I have to schedule appointments to go. (It’s a 45 minute circuit “class”). I’m really gonna have a hard time blowing this off/justifying just going home. HA!

Weigh In Wednesday

Yes, I do realize that it’s Friday (TGIF!!).. I’m running late like usual (in blog land only, thankfully). Ha!

Pretty Strong Medicine
I hopped on the scale on Wednesday morning and it kept showing my weird error codes. After getting on and off a few times and getting the same results I gave up and continued about my morning. After coffee and a Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwich I went back upstairs to get ready.. and I decided to give to give the scale another try. That in it’s self is different for me, as I usually weigh myself before I have eaten, and naked. Someone please tell me I’m not the only one who does this?? Anyway, imagine my surprise when I got on the scale and it said 218.8. I weighed myself later and work and the numbers were about the same (little different, thanks to being dressed).
I’m sure that a lot of it was water weight, but whatever- I will take it!
And now on to goals!

…. I wasn’t 100% successful in ANY of these… but I did a lot better last week than I normally do, so I guess that is a small success. Work was extra,extra crazy and to be honest I am just glad that I made it through the week alive. I’m going to keep the same goals for this up coming week, as I think that they were some pretty good ones.

Weigh In Wednesday

This is such a hard one to post… In fact it’s been pre-written for days because I had to talk myself into actually putting it out there.

I saw that my scale picture was completely illegible and I’m not taking another. Ha!

There is the ugly truth. Turns out this is what happens when you pretend you can eat/drink whatever you want and have no repercussions. Funny how I KNOW this isn’t how the world works, and yet I keep doing it anyway.

To try to help remedy this situation I am going to formally participate in Carolyn’s link up (2 days late, sorry!).

Fitnasty for Life

I’ve been mentally keeping track of my goals, but you can see how well that’s been going…

1.) Track EVERY bite, EVERY day. No more justifications for eating crappy food either. Yes, my bff is going to be in town for a couple days… and I have to feed her and her husband. They can eat some healthy food, it won’t kill them. (Nothing too crazy, don’t worry). There just won’t be the usual week long pizza-fest.

(Ew that’s gross to even admit to :-/)

2.) Get to the gym a minimum of three days this week. (Plus participate in the run this weekend). I’ve been doing this for the past couple weeks, but this week will be a little weird since we are having 24/7 house guests for 3-4 nights.

3.) Drink 100oz of water per day, EVERYDAY!

Simple enough, right?

Getting Real About Making A “lifestyle Change”..

Soo as you can see I’ve been having plenty of fun (and stressful) times.. and being a total dummy when it comes to eating well + working out. I have managed to get in a fair amount of workouts, but my eating has been completely atrocious.

I am really tired of promising myself over and over that “next week” will be different. Along with saying “next week”, I’ve been really good at justifying eating crap because of all the events that have been going on. People keep asking me about “the dress” and I keep telling them that I haven’t started looking. Which is mostly true. I am the type that needs to try on things to see how I like them, and I am NOT taking this body to go try on dresses. I’m too embarrassed. I haven’t even been truthful with people when they ask why I haven’t started looking. It completely revolves around being uncomfortable with myself. (Not necessarily the complete lack of time).

To keep myself accountable I signed up for a myfitnesspal account.. my name is Jeni850. For those of you who use this, would you do me a favor and add me? I think knowing that people I “know” are on there will help keep me accountable :-). Also, any tips or tricks that I should know about on myfitnesspal?

In addition to eating better, I know that I also have to get better about working out consistently. The biggest hurdle for me on this one is my insomnia. I know it probably sounds like an excuse, but I often don’t get to sleep until 2-3 in the morning and then I have to be up and ready for work by 8am. I’ve tried going to the doctor, over the counter meds, teas, avoiding caffeine, reading, hot baths + everything that I can possibility think of and nothing ever helps.. It’s so hard to peel myself out of bed in the morning, but I’m hoping that the sun rising will help me wake up earlier (it’s helped in the past).. If I could just consistently wake up and get to the gym I think that the exercise might help me sleep sooner/better… it’s such a never ending cycle.

Does anyone else suffer from insomnia? What do you do to help yourself fall asleep?

Catching Up Part ll

To follow up my last post.. here is New Year’s through now in (mostly) pictures.

We planned on a nice quiet New Year’s in, playing Uno on the couch, to be exact. That’s what we did last year and it was surprisingly fun. One of our friends was having a get together though, so we agreed to stop by there for a bit and say hi. Our friend’s new roommate is from CA where fireworks aren’t allowed.. so of course we had to show him how NYE works in Phoenix. We started with sparklers and as you can probably predict we felt like we had to stay for the midnight finale. Our “quiet night in” ended with us closing down the bar behind J’s house at 3am. Oopsie.. ha!

In mid January J told me about a painting class that he had found online that was a great deal. As in FREE + they gave us a ton of wine goodies + apron to promote/celebrate the launch of a new season of Cougar Town. J and I rounded up a bunch of friends + coworkers and made a bit of a party out of it.

Other than trying to survive the cold of 2014 (I’m a little dramatic.. maybe) + working — most of my spare time was spent planning my Grandpa’s 90th birthday.

He’s been in business for 70+ years, he has a large family and he’s just all around awesome so there were a tonnn of people at his party. I think 100+ showed up.

T and I had a great Valentine’s day evening together. We got with the wedding photographer and finalized things and then he took me out for a really nice dinner.

I surprised him and told him that I am going to be taking his last name. (I was seriously on the fence).

I’m sorry… I HATE twilight. I honestly think that it is the worst excuse at a novel ever written. (This is obviously my opinion, sorry if I offend anyone). I will say that I have a hard time taking her seriously though. Also please note the jar on the desk. I made all my coworkers goodie jars. (and had the intention of writing about it, silly me ;-)). The jars included Christmas socks, lotion, hand sanitizer, lip gloss nail polish and mini lint rollers (from Lorelei).

Five on Friday!

As usual.. sorry for the long lapse. Life happens… and it also happens that everyone I’ve ever met in my life is apparently born at the end of January/ early February.

Onward to Five on Friday!

1.) I had a really goofy schedule today and I ended up stopping by my parents house on my way to work. This little guy was all by himself, so I brought him in to the office with me.

Lori is gonna be PISSED when she figures out that she had to stay home and Mo was in her territory! haha!

2.) As I mentioned- I stopped at my parents house on my way into the office. When I moved out of my parents house (15ish months ago) I purposely left some clothes behind. I figured I have plenty and their house is midway to work + I spend a fair amount of time there so I may need an extra outfit at some point. (This has saved me a few times!) Unfortunately I have taken clothes.. but not brought them back. When I got to my parents I found a shirt that I could wear to work, but no pants. I was pretty desperate so I went and looked through so old clothes that I had in the extra bedroom.  I found a pair of brand new American Eagle jeans (tags still on!) that had some how made it down there. The only way I can think that they made them down was that they were a gift that was too small and I couldn’t return them. BUT they fit now!! Woohoo FREE new jeans!!

3.) I woke up this morning to a super overcast day.. Grandpa’s party is tomorrow and it’s OUTSIDE.. insert freak out. We have 100+ RSVPed too, so it’s not like we can really just move it inside to the house.

I just took the above picture a few minutes ago. I think the clouds are breaking up! Grandpa is SO EXCITED for his party, and I am so excited for him. Fingers crossed everything is perfect tomorrow.

4.) One of the guy’s recovered the service truck! The jerks who stole it took a lot of the expensive unique parts that it had on it off.. but it’s back! I really didn’t think that anything would come back. I also love that it was an employee who found it… yay for watchful eyes at Circle K!

5.) This devil of a cold is finally leaving my system! I can’t remember the last time that I’ve been sick for this long… 3.5 weeks and counting. My mom told me that the nurse at her doctors office told her that it’s been hanging around for a month on average. Ick! That is so not okay stupid cold germs!
